Short Answer (A Single Answer in a Single Answer Column)

You can specify multiple correct answer examples for one question. You can specify the condition flexibly by using options such as “Ignore difference between upper and lower case”, “Ignore the number of space ” and “Ignore the space at the first and the end of space”.

How to create

Description Question (a Single answer In a Single column) is created by text or tabular form.

1. Log in and click “Content Management” in the sidebar or the red frame on “My Page”.

 

2.Click the content management menu button (+ button) → “Quiz /Test” → “Create a Quiz/Test”.

 

3. Fill in the title of the Quiz Creation form.

 

4.Click “Edit” for the question.

 

5. Set the question form to “Description Question (a Single Answer In a Single Answer Column)”.

 

 

6. Describe the quiz sentence and correct answer. The correct answer can be added with the “+ button” in the red frame and can be deleted with the”-button”.

The correct answer “Sapporo City, Sapporo, Sapporo” can be described as correct.

 

If you need a comment, you can write it, and if everything is done you can check it with preview. Click “Save”.

 

7. You can add a question with the “+” button in the red frame or delete it with the “-” button. Make sure there are no mistakes and click the “Create” button to complete.

Adjust the judgment criterion

 

For description questions, you can fine-tune the conditions that are considered correct. By default, upper and lower case letters, differences in the number of spaces in answers, and space at the head and tail are ignored.

ignore_case

it ignores the difference between upper and lower case. By default, it is enabled (case-insensitive). You can change this setting by writing #ignore_case: false at the top of the quesiton file.

  • true: Case-insensitive (default)
  • If “Japan” is set as the correct answer, both “Japan” and “japan” will be correct.
  • false: Case sensitive
  • If “Japan” is set as the case-sensitive as a correct answer, only “Japan” will be correct but “japan” will be not.
ignore_whitespace_count

it ignores the number of white space as letter characters.
By default, it is enabled (it does not distinguish the number of spaces).

  • true: ignore the number of space characters (default) When “ls -l” is set as the correct answer, the correct answer is “ls -l” (as the set correct answer) or “ls -l” (two spaces).
  • ※ Even one or two or more spaces are put in succession would be accepted as correct, but it would not accept as correct if you do not enter any space at all (0 space between the letter).
  • false: distinguish the amount of sapce
  • If “ls -l” is set as the correct answer, “ls -l” (as set with the correct answer) will be the only accepted, but “ls -l” (2 spaces) Would not be accepted.

 

 

ignore_whitespace

ignore the space. As the default setting, it is set as the disabled (recognize the space as the letter)

 

  • true: igonre the sapce
  • if you set “I am student”, “Iamstudent” is recognized as a correct answer.
  • false: recognize the space (defualt)
  • if you set “I am student”, “Iamstudent” would be incorrect.
trim

it ignores the space at the head and tail of the question. as the default setting, it is enabled. You can change the setting by adding #trim: false in the head of the quiz file.

  • true: ignore spaces at the head and tail
  • if the answer is set as ” Japan “, “Japan” or ” Japan ” either of the answer would be accepted as the correct answer.
  • false: it does not ignore the space at the head and tail of the answer
  • If “Japan” is set as the correct answer, “Japan”  will  only be correct answer but “Japan” will be not.

The setting of explanation a You can set “uniform explanation” to display the same message and “explanation on right or wrong” to display different messages depending on whether you are the correct or not

If you write a sentence separated by | at the end of the first correct answer example, it will be displayed as a commentary after the answer.

Commentary for Each Correct and Incorrect Answer

If sentences are separated by | at the end of the first correct answer example and at the end of the second correct answer example, the first sentence is displayed as a correct answer, and the second sentence is displayed as an explanation when an incorrect answer. Even if there are not two correct answer examples, you can display an explanation for correctness by describing “| Explanation at the time of incorrect answer” in the line following the first correct answer example (tab-delimited in the case of table format).
